► New Kia EV6 snapped testing
► Very different front end
► Battery tech update with more range
The Kia EV6 might look like it’s from the future, but it’s due a facelift – and we’ve taken a few pictures of the refreshed electric SUV testing. Helpfully Kia engineers have parked it right next to the old one so we can do a solid back-to-back comparison.
CAR understands there’ll be solid changes inside and out, but the most obvious ones will come at the front of the new electric SUV. It’ll be arriving later this year or early 2025.
So what’s different?
Kia’s designers have been hard at work converting the spaceship-looks of the current EV6 into something still futuristic, but more in keeping with the current model range. To that end, eagle-eyed viewers can see totally redesigned headlights peeking out the camo, as well as a slightly different front bumper solution.
According to these pictures, the next EV6 will have a drastically different light signature, with the main units being much lower than before.
At the rear we’re expecting the same treatment: the EV6’s futuristic lightbar and reflective indicators are a hallmark of the current model – but it looks like things are about to change.
Anything else?
CAR understands the EV6’s powertrain will get a significant bump to compete with its new, sophisticated competitors. Expect a larger 84kWh battery to sit between the wheels of the new model, with an improved range and more stable performance stats – so you’ll be able to use the next EV6’s performance more often without those dreaded power cuts.
There are no interior pictures at the time of writing, but rumours suggest the facelift EV6 will get a much-improved infotainment system dubbed the ‘connected car navigation cockpit.’
We’ll update this article when we know more.
